We arrived at our hotel (The White Swan) around 1000pm last night in Guangzhou. What a better way to spend Micky's birthday - travelling in China. She can't say it was boring!
Guangzhou has warm tropical weather, gotta love it. The weather is absolutely gorgeous with temps in the low 70s. A nice break from the rainy 40s of the past week.
The hotel is located on Shamian Island where much of the architecture is left over from French and English presence. Between the weather and architecture it feels like we are in Charleston SC....
Julie had a physical for her US visa application today, other than that we just walked around the island enjoying the weather and atmosphere. Tomorrow (Sunday) is another down day and we are going to explore the city......

Look for Dong and Susan. They own Sherry's Place. It's NEAR the shop A Gift from China. They have the best prices for laundry (tell them Natalie sent you) and they are super great company! You'll love them. See if you can't get an address from them too.
Also check out A Gift from China. the proceeds from anything you buy there goes to orphanages. The shop is great and they use to have some fun books about China.
Sounds like you're having a great time. Can't wait to meet Julie.
